- The name Eloise means "healthy, wide, Famous Warrior" in French.
- Eloise is the French and English version of Louise and Heloise, which is thought to be derived from the German Helewidis, composed of the elements "hale, healthy" (heil) and "wide" (wid).
- Eloise's surname Sakane means "placer gold, gold dust" (砂金).
